Anyone know of any cartoons/ animations that are really gory?

I want to see some cartoons or a movie similar to heavy metal or superjail. Something with a cool animation style... preferably not anime. There was this really weird animated movie i watched awhile back about something that gets in your brain and gives you superpowers...it like burrows into the back of your neck.. maybe it was canadian.. dont know.. wish i knew what it was.
