Why do we not say "an used car or "an unicorn when they both start with vowels?

Since we 1st learned vowels in school they said use "an" befor the word instead of "a" but why do we get taught that when (in this case) itz not true. and sum1 else asked why do we say "an MBA instead of a MBA" HOLLA AT ME
